Paper Bowl Sizes Guide: 7oz to 1300ml

Disposable bowls are sized by how much they hold, in fluid ounces (oz) or millilitres (ml). One ounce is about 30ml. Small 7oz and 8oz bowls suit desserts and sides, 12oz bowls suit soups and snacks, and 750ml to 1000ml kraft paper bowls with lids are the standard takeaway size for mains, noodles and salads. Which bowl do I need?

Desserts, ice cream and small sides: 7oz plastic dessert bowls or 8oz sugarcane bowls

Which lid fits which bowl?

Our 500ml, 750ml and 1000ml kraft paper bowls share the same rim, so the same lids fit all three. Choose the PP 148mm lid for hot food: it's marked caution contents hot. The clear PET 150mm lid is for cold food only, such as salads. The 1300ml bowl has a wider rim and takes the PP 185mm lid. Sugarcane bowls and plastic dessert bowls are sold without lids. For white paper bowls and rectangular salad bowls there are matching PP lids by the trade case.

Sugarcane or kraft paper bowls?

Sugarcane bowls (also sold as bagasse bowls) are made from sugarcane fibre. They're biodegradable, shallow, sturdy and grease resistant, so they suit parties, events and serving food on the spot. Kraft paper bowls are deeper, take a lid and are grease and leak resistant, so they're the choice for takeaway, delivery and salads. The kraft bowls are microwave safe for reheating (the bowl, not the lid).

About 360ml. An 8oz bowl holds about 240ml, and a 750ml bowl is about 26oz.

What size paper bowl is best for takeaway?

A 750ml kraft paper bowl is the standard takeaway size for curries, soups and rice dishes. Go up to 1000ml (35oz) for noodles, poke bowls and larger portions.

Do the kraft paper bowls use the same lid?

Yes. The 500ml, 750ml and 1000ml bowls all take the PP 148mm lid (for hot food) and the PET 150mm lid (for cold food). The 1300ml bowl takes the PP 185mm lid.

Can I microwave paper bowls?

Yes, our kraft paper bowls are microwave safe for reheating. Take the lid off first.
