How foil container numbers work

The number is a size code, not a capacity in millilitres. In our range the numbered containers go from the small No.1 (about 210ml) for sauces and sides, through the No.2 (about 450ml) and No.6A (about 660ml), up to the No.6 (about 760ml) for larger meals. Square trays are named by their size in inches, and gastro trays follow catering tray sizes.

Which size do I need?

  • Sauces, dips and sides: No.1
  • A one-person takeaway meal such as curry, rice or pasta: No.2
  • A larger single meal or meal deal: No.6A or No.6
  • Pies, quiches, cakes and desserts: No.12 (7" round)
  • Lasagne, traybakes and family portions: 9" square trays
  • Buffets, parties and events: half or full gastro trays

Lids

Every container has a matching lid. Retail packs of the No.2 and No.6A come with board lids. In trade cases, lids are sold separately: heavy duty lids for the numbered containers, and foil lids for the No.12 (7" round), 9" square and gastro trays.
